Ideally, you should understand each wax\u2019s characteristics, experiment, and <strong>adapt your choice to the type of candle<\/strong> you wish to create (container, pillar, scented, decorative, etc.). <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of vegetable waxes: characteristics, advantages and limitations.  <\/h2>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:35% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/crea.hobbyland.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cera-di-soia-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10249 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crea.hobbyland.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cera-di-soia-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/crea.hobbyland.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cera-di-soia-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/crea.hobbyland.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cera-di-soia-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/crea.hobbyland.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cera-di-soia-585x878.jpg 585w, https:\/\/crea.hobbyland.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cera-di-soia.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>SOY WAX<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Soy wax<\/strong> is obtained by hydrogenation of soybean oil, a process that transforms the fats, causing the oil to \u201charden\u201d into a solid wax.<br\/><br\/><strong>Main advantages<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It burns more &#8220;<strong>cleanly<\/strong>&#8221; than paraffin, producing less soot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is <strong>biodegradable<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good ability to retain and release scents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disadvantages\/limitations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Low melting point: by nature, soy wax is rather &#8220;soft,&#8221; so it is difficult to process and store if temperatures are high.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It cannot support vivid colors like some synthetic waxes (pigments are attenuated).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sometimes the added fragrance is less pronounced than with paraffin, unless properly balanced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<p>For this reason, many soy-based waxes on the market are blends that compensate for these limits by adding, in calibrated percentages, harder waxes such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hobbyland.eu\/eng\/shop\/vegetable-stearin\/p-F000038\/\">vegetable stearin<\/a><\/strong>.<br\/><br\/>You can find soy wax in two types:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hobbyland.eu\/eng\/shop\/ecosoya-pillar-blend-wax-for-molds\/p-F000043\/\">Ecosoya Pillar Blend<\/a>:<\/em> specially designed for use in molds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hobbyland.eu\/eng\/shop\/ecosoya-cb-135-wax-for-containers\/p-F005429\/\">Ecosoya CB-135<\/a>:<\/em> optimized for container candles (jars, glasses, tins).<br\/><br\/><strong>Why two different varieties? The oil is refined and hydrogenated as it is for soybeans, so that it transforms from a liquid to a solid state. <br\/><br\/> <strong>Key benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A vegetable wax that is considered more <strong>sustainable <\/strong>because it uses a typical Mediterranean resource (the olive) and reduces reliance on crops such as palm or soy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has a <strong>clean burn<\/strong>, good yield with fragrance, and a smooth, even finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disadvantages\/limitations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is considered a &#8220;<strong>premium<\/strong>&#8221; wax for natural candles so, in some cases, the cost may be higher than soy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is not yet widespread everywhere: it may be more difficult to find.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<hr is often used as an additive in vegetable waxes to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase hardness and melting point<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve surface finish (reduce sinking, improve stability)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase fragrance release<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stabilize combustion<br\/><br\/><strong>How to add it<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>10-20% to soy and olive wax \u2192 to make it harder and stronger.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5-10% to palm and beeswax \u2192 to improve stability and combustion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<p>It is rarely used on its own (and if so, with caution), it works best as a \u201c<strong>modifier<\/strong>\u201d in blends.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n<figure
